REVIEWING THE 2006 ELECTION IN PICTURES

The winners
The new governor visiting Clinton County as a candidate.
We have a new Democratic representative to the US House of Representatives.
We re-elected our state senator, Roger Stewart.
We re-elected our state representative, Polly Bukta.
We helped re-elect another state representative, Tom Schueller.
And there was a big change on the county board of supervisors.
But along the way we managed to have fun at the steak fry among other things.
And there was a visit from a former US president, Bill Clinton, at the JJ Dinner.
Here is the volcano that erupted at the JJ Dinner.
A photo tribute to a couple of other candidates who fought the good fight.
Let's not forget the staff (with apologies to the ones I don't have pictures of).
A few lucky Democratic officials were not up for re-election.
I managed to bother a few famous Democratic officials (sorry).
And finally, the food was good.
COUNTY DEMOCRATIC HEADQUARTERS GRAND OPENING
August 12, 2006

The local candidates were on hand to cut the ribbon opening our office for the campaign season.

The guest of honor was US House of Representatives candidate
Bruce Braley, who spent time talking to us about our concerns and gave a strong speech about why we need a Democrat in congress and how hard we need to work on the campaign.

We
made a meal of it with the help of Bob Krajnovich, the chief chef, who can definitely cook up a storm.
Camanche Days Parade 2006

After lining up across from the high school with
the banners, float, trucks, and walkers, we got started right on time.

Lets support all of these candidates, whose signs are on
this truck as well as on this wagon, and on our float.

Here is Clinton County Sheriff
Rick Lincoln, and here he is again.

County Supervisor candidate Dennis Starling has
this message on his truck.  Here is is riding on the truck.

State Senator Frank Wood and State Representative Polly Bukta
enjoyed the parade.  Here is another picture of Polly Bukta.

The Democratic canidate for County Attorney is
Bruce Ingham, seen here marching in the parade.

Reg Kauffman is running as a Democratic Candidate for the Iowa House of Representatives.

State Senator
Roger Stewart was in the parade along with this group of supporters.
The 2006 Low Moor Parade

Carrying the banners is a hard job.  You not only have to lift them, you also have to throw candy to the kids along the route.  That is State Senator Frank Wood tossing the candy.

Here is our
truck with a Democratic supporter promoting several Democratic candidates.

Bob Krajnovich drove the truck that pulled the float, and Carol McGuire decided to "float" on the float.  After the parade, Gus Keefer, Carol McGuire, and Charlie Smith stood guard over the float.  See more pictures of this float below in the Clinton and De Witt parades -- with a different crew each time.

Reg Kauffman is running for State Representative.  He was thorough in covering the parade route -- from yard to sidewalk to the float.

Bruce Ingham is running for the office of Clinton County Attorney, and he is also a compelling figure in the parade.

Dennis Starling is running for County Supervisor, and he also gathered in supporters during the parade.

Pictures from De Witt's annual July 4 parade, 2006 edition.

We alays lead our group in parades with these banners.

Congratulations to the builders of
this float, which has seen duty in several parades this summer.

We always like to
toss candy to the kids.  And they like it too.

This is our
Clinton County Sheriff, Rick Lincoln, watching out for us during the parade.

Bruce Imgham is running for County Attorney.  No training needed, he already knows the job.  Now we need to elect him.

Dennis Starling, running hard for County Supervisor, seems passionate about moving Clinton County ahead.

Can you imagine a more patriotic setting for
State Representative Polly Bukta, riding on the float?

State Senator
Frank Wood is nearly as active in these parades as he is in the senate.

And, my apologies to Reg Kauffman, running for State Representative.  He was also very active in this parade, but I mishandled my camera rather badly, and my pictures of him didn't work.  However, see the Low Moor Parade (above) and the Clinton Riverboat Days Parade for several pictures of him.

This year we had a wonderful float.  Check
here for several pictures of it.  If your browser tries to shrink it to fit the screen, check the instruction at the top of this page for making it larger.

The theme of the float reminds us to always preserve the freedoms
celebrated on these signs.

Bruce Braley is running hard and is ready to take back the US Congress seat in the First District for the Democrats.

Here is Clinton's able and effective state representative
Polly Bukta.  She is running hard for re-election.

State Senator Roger Stewart is, by all accounts, a great legislator, and he is also running for re-election this year.

State Representative Tom Schueller is running for re-election in order to continue his good work in Des Moines.

Good luck to Reg Kauffman
, who is running for the state House of Representatives for the first time.  We need his energy there.

Here is
State Senator Frank Wood , active in Des Moines on behalf of Iowans, also being active in the parade.

This is Bruce Ingham, who aims to become the new County Attorney and make that office active again.

Dennis Starling, who feels strongly about improving the county,  is running for County Supervisor.

This is the
Clinton County Sheriff, Rick Lincoln, seen here with former State Representative Art Ollie, County Supervisor Grant Wilke, and Senator Frank Wood.
The May 27, 2006 Hall of Fame Dinner honored Polly Bukta, Highland Nichols, and, posthumously, Eugene T. Burke.

Eugene T. Burke's award, Polly Pukta's award, and Highland Nichols' award.

Clinton County Democratic Chair
Jean Pardee runs the show.

The
large crowd was entertained by music by State Senator Joe Seng.

How do you practice politics?   Mainly by talking to people.
So after an event like this, that's what everyone does.

At the 2005 Iowa Democratic Party Hall of Fame Dinner, Clinton County Chair Jean Pardee received the Jim Lodwick Award from Lt. Governor Sally Pederson.   This is my picture of her receiving the award, but I messed it up by rushing it too much.  Here is a much better picture on the Iowa Democratic Party web site.  Here are all of  the IDP's pictures of the dinner.
Here are the pictures from the May 7, 2005 Hall of Fame Dinner, the most successful ever, which honored Bob and Wendy Krajnovich and Gus and Marcia Keefer.
