| Nick Saponara will visit the Democratic Central Committee meeting tonight at 7:30 P.M. Nick was our Iowa Democratic Party staffer during the 2004 campaign and deserves a lot of credit for getting us organized and turning out a large Democratic vote. Everybody is welcome at the Central Committee meetings. | |||||||||
| The Off-Year-Caucus is scheduled for Sunday afternoon March 6 at ClintonCommunity College. We will be making plans at the meeting tonight. A major feature of the caucus will be the round table discussions. We plan to have a facilitator and a resource person for each table. We are looking for topics you would like to discuss. So far we have these suggestions: Energy, Education, The Environment, Health Care, Computer Use in a Political Campaign, County Party Priorities and how to reach young voters and interest them in the political process. We hope that all of our Legislators will be able to attend. | |||||||||

| APRIL: Hall of Fame Dinner. This is one of the major fund raisers for the Democrats of Clinton County. We are searching for a person of national prominence for our keynote speaker. | |||||||||
| THE ENVIRNOMENT: The Bush Administration wants to minimize the potential threat of global warming by calling it climate variability. Climate is variable, so we're simply talking about the status quo. Atmospheric scientists almost unanimously agree that global warming is a fact and a looming crisis. | |||||||||
| Yet, the Bush Administration wants to block any meaningful dialogue among nations on global climate change. The Bush Administration is by far the most Orwellian in modern times in the way it tortures language to serve its political agenda. | |||||||||
| Examples: The "clear skies" initiative weakens air pollution regulations, "healthy forests are clear-cut forests. The most insidious and most Orwellian, is the "war on terror" is endless, without geographical boundary and is used to justify continued abrogation of the U.S. Constitution and international law. | |||||||||
