Presidents'Day is a time to celebrate our freedom and a democratic form of government.  Please give us an administration that actually demonstrates a higher priority for these values within the United States.
CLINTONCOUNTYDEMOCRATS'  CAUCUS SET FOR MARCH 6
The Clinton County Democrats will host their off-year caucus on Sunday, March 6 in the auditorium at ClintonCommunity College. Registration will run from 1:00 to 1:30 P.M.  The off-year caucus differs from the Presidential caucus. There is only one caucus for the entire County instead of one in each precinct and township. Efforts will focus more on party building and issues in preparation for the 2006 court house, congressional and governor's races.
The heart of the ClintonCounty caucus will be small group discussions.  Action plans will be developed to help elect Democrats who share the philosophy that democratic government is the organized way to help improve the quality of life for all.
Everyone attending the caucus will have an opportunity to express personal concerns and opinions.  Some of the topics that have been suggested for small groups are: social security, energy, education, health care, the use of computers in political campaigns, the importance of political parties, political education and community service.  Every group will be asked to come up with an action plan for promoting their agendas.  Campaign pledges and support for the party platform will be reviewed.   Participants in the discussion groups will recommend three top priorities for the Iowa Democratic Party in 2005.  Input from every citizen is important and encouraged.
Many elected City and County officials, candidates for local offices, State Legislators and candidates for Congress will be attending the caucus to listen to concerns of their constituents and to take part in the discussions.  There will be a legislative forum at which people will be able to discuss topics with their State Legislators.
Democracy requires participation by citizens.  The caucus provides a tremendous opportunity for citizens to be heard.  Caucuses such as this are where ideas for the Democratic Party State and National platforms originate.
