BUILDING A STRONGER PARTY
Following are a few statements made by Democratic Party strategists concerning the future of our party:
"We've got to do a better job of messaging.  We can't continue to allow Republicans to hang labels on us that distort our position on issues and scare people."  (Terry McAuliffe)
"Why do Democrats have to convince people that we are pro-American and pro-military and have values?  What is the heart, soul and future of the Democratic Party? We need programs and ideas that will motivate people."  (Bill Daley)
"Democratic candidates too often don't make a connection with ordinary voters.  We need to explain things in a way that makes sense to people."  (Gilda Cobb-Hunter)
"Our grass roots are very strong and we are optimistic.  It is hogwash that we don't know what we stand for.  We need to do a better job of organizing more people and we have to be smart about motivating people."  (John Kerry)
"We should not mourn.  We should organize."  (Anita Dunn)
